Two Victories and Chocolate for Breakfast

I started Lindsay’s challenge one day late—sort of. Yesterday, I vacuumed my ENTIRE house. And I mopped. There are three floors in my house *and* my vacuum is crap: with the head on, it doesn’t suck (literally), so vacuuming my whole house meant me on my hands and knees, rubbing the hose mouth across every square inch of floor. Some of it hadn’t been done in a long while, so let me tell you, it took FOUR HOURS. That’s not what I meant by re-focusing on activity, but if we want to be sticklers for me being on target with the dates, I’ll count it.

If we’re NOT sticklers, well… today was a killer number 1: because it’s fecking freezing here right now, the Sunday morning running group decided to run at 9am instead of 8, in the hopes of squeezing a few extra degrees out of the day. It was still -22ºC as we set out (for my first run since Christmas—eek!), and I only did about 9K, but that was a HUGE victory! I broke the running seal that has felt like a barrier for weeks! Woot! And it’s one towards my re-focus—a real one. Yay!

Even better, I woke up this morning with VERY minor zitting, which means that all those who voted NO to the fish allergy were RIGHT! I can eat FISH AGAIN!!! I think I’ll take it slow and not immediately go back to twice a day or anything… maybe once a week or so, and it’s DEFINITELY too soon for fish oil supplements, but OH. MY. GOD. Next weekend, there will be a fish taco. Tilapia, baby, I’m coming home.

So there we have it: one weekend, two wins—AND I had chocolate for breakfast. I woke up ravenous, and went to make my protein waffles with the intention of eating a few bites before running, but strangely all I wanted was a peanut butter cup. There were some in my freezer, as luck would have it… and it turned out to be a perfect pre-run fuel, because the limiting factors on my run were definitely sore IT bands and burning lungs (2 scarves can’t even protect against -22°C air!), not lacking the mojo.
I feel so good! Even if I *am* on my way to the office on Sunday, this day is fabulous.
